Program reasoning for the labor trade

Graduates of this study program will be well-equipped to meet the demands of the country, especially in rural and agribusiness systems, with a focus on implementing natural resource efficiency. Through the education provided in this program, graduates will serve as promoters and possess significant potential to contribute to the establishment of new businesses in the agribusiness sector and enhance the sector’s management efficiency. They will also emerge as leaders in the sustainable development of rural areas and contribute to the effective operation of agricultural enterprises. Additionally, an important goal of this study program is to enable students to pursue further studies in the second cycle program – Master’s.

The vision of this study program is based on the fulfilment of several objectives. Among others:

Emerging as a leader in delivering high-quality education to prepare professionally well-educated individuals for the agribusiness sector on both national and international levels.
Establishing leadership in scientific research within the field of agribusiness and rural development, contributing significantly at both national and international levels.
Becoming a competitive entity in offering advisory and professional services with regional and international impact.

The objectives of the study program “Agribusiness” are designed as follows:

To acquire comprehensive knowledge in the field of agribusiness and their preferred area of research.
To demonstrate theoretical and practical proficiency in identifying and solving diverse problems within the agribusiness sector.
To gain the necessary skills and knowledge for employment in the labor market or pursue further studies at the postgraduate level.
To attain comparable knowledge with international study models regarding the theory and practice of agribusiness.
To be capable of adapting and interacting in various social and cultural environments.
To have the ability to establish new enterprises in rural areas.
To possess the skills required for managing farms and agricultural enterprises.
To develop effective communication and teamwork skills within the agribusiness context.
To foster critical thinking and analytical skills for making informed decisions in the agribusiness sector.

Learning outcomes of the students graduating this study program are:

Understand economic principles and their application to the agribusiness sector and further of deep understanding of agricultural economics, integrating economic principles into agribusiness profile.
Acquire comprehensive knowledge in plant and animal production and its relevance to agribusiness operations.
Develop foundational skills in research methodology to investigate and address challenges in the agribusiness field.
Understand and manage factors shaping the agricultural economy, including characteristics of production, organization of production entities, types and structure of agricultural markets, as well as the demand and supply for products on the farm.
Exhibit competence in business statistics for informed decision-making within the agribusiness context.
Understand the basics of marketing and its application to promote agribusiness products, conducting market research, identifying market trends, and developing effective marketing strategies to promote agricultural products, enhance profitability, and compete in global markets.
Develop expertise in agribusiness management, financial management, farm management, financial basics, and accounting enabling them to manage budgets, assess investment opportunities, and make informed decisions that drive profitability and growth in agribusiness operations.
Develop skills in agriculture policies focusing on EU Common Agriculture Policy and extension services allowing them to navigate compliance issues and advocate for necessary policy changes.
Develop specialized knowledge in various elective courses, allowing them to explore specific areas of interest such as organic production, agribusiness projects, rural development, international business etc.
Acquire communication and leadership skills, equipping students to work collaboratively with diverse teams, manage personnel, and effectively convey ideas and solutions to stakeholders.
Develop professionally and acquire the skills to pursue master’s studies.

1.4 Orientation of the study program according to the guiding principles of the institution

The curriculum of Agribusiness management studies is in accordance with the rules and criteria of studies according to the Bologna system and for two academic years they also have elective courses, while the distribution of ECTS is done according to the weight of the course. The number of credits is 60 credits per year of study, which means 30 credits per semester. This means that Bachelor studies in this field have a total of 180 credits. Students can choose the elective courses according to the special list provided within this curriculum (elective course table) and their number is determined by filling in the number of credits for the designated semester. The first cycle study programs are realized with 180 European credits (ECTS) (hereinafter: credits) and their normal duration is 3 academic years.
